تَحُفُّsurround بِهِaround him المُشَقَّفَةُthe lean steeds الطِوالُtall
And many a warrior charging toward me through battle’s perils,
And my yearning toward the clouds is my guide
With tall, lean steeds surrounding him—
Wearing a long loose robe fluttering around him.
تَرَكتُI left الرُمحَthe lance يَخطُرُsways فيin حَشاهُhis innards

I left the lance swaying in his innards,
I left my spear vibrating in its sheath
With room to move between his ribs.
As it had room between his ribs to penetrate.

لِأَمرٍfor a reason ماتَحاماكَhave indeed avoided you الرِجالُthe men
He says, with my lance standing straight inside him:
It says, as my spear leaned toward him,
“For good reason have men kept clear of you!”
"For something you did not contend with men."
