المَرءُa man رَهنُhostage to مَصائِبٍcalamities لاتَنقَضيnever cease
المَرءُ رَهنُ مَصائِبٍ لاتَنقَضي
حَتّىuntil يُوارىis buried جِسمُهُhis body فيin رَمسِهِhis grave
حَتّى يُوارى جِسمُهُ في رَمسِهِ
A man is hostage to calamities that never cease,
One is hostage to misfortunes without end
until his body is buried in his grave.
Until his body is interned in the dust.
فَمُؤَجَّلٌso one whose death is delayed يَلقىencounters الرَدىdeath فيamong أَهلِهِhis kin
فَمُؤَجَّلٌ يَلقى الرَدى في أَهلِهِ
وَمُعَجَّلٌand one whose death is hastened يَلقىencounters الرَدىdeath فيin نَفسِهِhimself
وَمُعَجَّلٌ يَلقى الرَدى في نَفسِهِ
So one whose death is delayed encounters death among his kin,
One whose time is deferred finds doom with his kin;
and one whose death is hastened encounters death himself.
One whose time is rushed finds doom within.
