A dark-eyed, slender maiden,
A dark-eyed maid, so slender and tall,
in her bosom are two ivory caskets.
With breasts of ivory, so pure and small,
شَجاgrieved فُؤاديmy heart طَرفُهاher gaze الساجيthe languid
شَجا فُؤادي طَرفُها الساجي
وَكُلُّand everyone ساجٍlanguid طَرفُهُhis gaze شاجِcausing grief
وَكُلُّ ساجٍ طَرفُهُ شاجِ
Her languid gaze has grieved my heart,
Her glances pierced my heart, her beauty shone,
and everyone whose gaze is languid brings grief.
And every glance became a wounding dart.
