أُقِرُّI admit لَهُto him بِالذَنبِto the fault وَالذَنبُand the fault ذَنبُهُhis fault
وَيَزعَمُand he claims أَنّيthat I am ظالِمٌunjust فَأَتوبُso I repent
I admit my fault to him, though the fault is his.
I confess to him my sin, yet the sin is his,
And he claims I am unjust, so I repent.
And he claims I'm unjust, so I'll repent.
وَيَقصِدُنيand he targets me بِالهَجرِwith estrangement عِلماًknowing بِأَنَّهُthat he
إِلَيَّto me عَلىdespite ماكانَwhat has been مِنهُfrom him حَبيبُbeloved
And he deliberately shuns me, knowing that he
He shuns me knowingly, though to me he'll be
Is beloved to me, despite what he has done.
A lover, despite all that came between.
وَمِنand from كُلِّevery دَمعٍtear فيin جُفونيmy eyelids سَحابَةٌa cloud
وَمِنand from كُلِّevery وَجدٍlonging فيin حَشايَmy heart لَهيبُa flame
And from every tear comes a cloud in my eyelids,
Each teardrop in my eyes forms a cloud,
And from every longing comes a flame in my heart.
Each surge of passion in me is a raging fire.
