The sun that rises above the throne of the East

Is nothing but the beloved in the blue veil.

Her heat and radiance bring the wilderness to life,

And my heart's life comes from a radiant brow.

Will you not rise upon it after veiling yourself?

For without night, the dawn would not shine.

Then you will see within it, green and grass-covered,

Love's blossoms growing like lily blossoms.

If no favor from your heart is mine,

Do not deny me a beggar's pittance.

So gaze toward me like a star I conversed with by night,

And the stars rise in the darkness like a legion.

And weep over a liver that love tears apart,

For its cure comes from your shimmering tears.

Life in the radiance of your face is sweet,

And death is better than life if your face does not shine.
