She has let the shawl fall over her cheek,

So the bough of her figure grew green from it.

And her cheek is like a rose upon its branch,

And the shawl is like the rose's leaves.

And dew gives the rose its freshness,

And her waist is in need of binding.

This one's knot is an embrace from my hand,

And that one's water is tears of longing.

    An apple drove Adam out

From the paradise of bliss and immortality.

And from my paradise I still eat

Its apples, and it is still with me.
