الناسُthe people بالأعمالِby deeds والأخلاقِand character
الناسُ بالأعمالِ والأخلاقِ
والشعبُand the people فيin التشميرِearnest effort حيٌّalive راقِadvancing
والشعبُ في التشميرِ حيٌّ راقِ
People are measured by deeds and character.
People are known by their deeds and morals
And a people is alive and advancing through earnest effort.
And the nation is alive when rolling up its sleeves
الويلُwoe للشعبِto the people الذيwhich أخلاقُهُits morals
الويلُ للشعبِ الذي أخلاقُهُ
فسدتbecame corrupt فضيَّعَso they squandered أنفسَthe most precious الأعلاقtreasures
فسدت فضيَّعَ أنفسَ الأعلاق
Woe to the people whose morals
Woe to the nation whose morals are corrupt
Have grown corrupt, so they squandered the most precious treasures.
And squandered its most valuable souls
إنindeed الطبيعةَnature للضعيفِto the weak عدوَّةٌan enemy
إن الطبيعةَ للضعيفِ عدوَّةٌ
والأفضَلُand the best الأقوىthe strongest لخيرٌsurely a good باقenduring
والأفضَلُ الأقوى لخيرٌ باق
Indeed, nature is an enemy to the weak.
Nature is an enemy to the weak
And the best, strongest one is surely an enduring good.
And the strongest is best equipped to last
منwhoever ليسَdoes not يحميprotect دارَهُhis home وعيالَهُand his dependents
من ليسَ يحمي دارَهُ وعيالَهُ
يومَon the day of الكريهةbattle ماnot لهُfor him منany واقprotector
يومَ الكريهة ما لهُ من واق
Whoever does not protect his home and dependents
He who does not protect his home and family
On the day of battle has no protector.
Will have nothing to rely on in times of distress
إنindeed الحياةَlife تزاحمٌjostling وتصادمٌand clashing
إن الحياةَ تزاحمٌ وتصادمٌ
والفوزُand victory للغلابِfor the conqueror والسبّاقand the one who outstrips others
والفوزُ للغلابِ والسبّاق
Indeed, life is jostling and clashing.
Life is a struggle and clash
And victory belongs to the conqueror and the one who outstrips others.
And victory belongs to the victor and trailblazer
ياO أيهاyou (vocative) العربيُّthe Arab جدَّstrive hard مزاحماًcompeting
يا أيها العربيُّ جدَّ مزاحماً
للناسwith the people فيin الأمواجِthe waves والأسواقand the markets
للناس في الأمواجِ والأسواق
O Arab, strive hard, competing
Oh Arab rise to the challenge
With people amid the waves and in the markets.
And compete with people in struggles and markets
وخذِand take الحياةَlife منfrom العروبةِArab identity إنهاfor it
وخذِ الحياةَ من العروبةِ إنها
مثلُlike الربيعِspring لرطبةُsurely moist الأعراقthe roots
مثلُ الربيعِ لرطبةُ الأعراق
And draw life from Arab identity, for it
And take life from Arabism, for it is
Is like spring, truly moist at the roots.
Like spring to the freshness of veins
