    O rose, whose petals scatter,

Why do you wither while your companions flourish?

Among my companions, I am like you among yours,

And you are indeed more radiant in the morning, and more fragrant.

My heart withered before youth, still fragrant,

And you withered, fragrant, while your stem was green.

You resemble me in that withering is our lot,

But your color is red as you wither.

My innermost being melted in love's fire, whose light

Is a beautiful face that makes my face yellow.

    Indeed, emotions from lovers' hearts

Are spread like fragrances from blossoms.

These have their droplets and their breeze,

And in those lie what you love and what you remember.
