O rose of Jur, who greeted us and brought us to life,

You resemble a cheek drenched in beauty’s water.

When I see you, the universe appears smiling,

like a mouth, and hopes grow green as boughs.

And if I pluck you, I recall a maiden who carried

blossoms of many shapes and colors.

How many a bouquet of you her fingertips have clasped,

as though they were pearls embracing coral.

And your color and fragrance are in her sheer robe,

while she clothes herself in light and sweet basil.

To me she gave you, clasped in her fingertips,

until I saw love as beauty and kindness.

And through your blossoms I still remember her,

for I remain intoxicated with fragrance.

And sometimes she offers me a cheek, and I take it

for something she has plucked, drenched in your fragrance.

My heart fell in love with her cheeks, as did

the garden’s butterfly with a bewitching hue of yours.

O rose of Jur, the wind wafts over you.

We shake blossoms and boughs in the morning,

and it carries healing, like the soul, bearing

love, until the universe becomes universes.
