إلىfor أهلِpeople of المروءةِchivalry والحفاظِand fidelity
إلى أهلِ المروءةِ والحفاظِ
My longing, amid harsh boors,
My yearning among rough camels
Is for people of chivalry and fidelity,
To the people of chivalry and protection

وعينُ فتاتِهم وَهجُ الشواظ
For the Arabs, on whose sword-edges
To the Arabs whose gazelles are upon their hills
And in whose maiden’s eye is the glow of flame.
And the glance of their young women and the passion of warriors

أرى الخنساءَ تنشدُ في عكاظ
Whenever she recites the verses of my poetry,
When I recite my poetry
I see al-Khansa reciting at Ukaz.
I see Al-Khansa' reciting in Okaz
