فارقتِ أشباح الجبابرةِ الألى

تذكارُهم في ليلِنا مصباح

You left the bodies of the mighty ones whose

You left the ghosts of tyrants now gone

Memory is a lamp in our night.

أعلامُهُم وسيوفُهُم وعروشُهُم

أعلامُهُم وسيوفُهُم وعروشُهُم

ذَهبَ الفسادُ بها ولا إصلاح

ذَهبَ الفسادُ بها ولا إصلاح

Their banners, their swords, and their thrones—

Their flags, swords, and thrones

Corruption swept them away, and there is no reform.

Corruption has taken them, no repair

عودي إلينا أو هبينا قوةً

عودي إلينا أو هبينا قوةً

فالظلمُ قد كترت به الأبراح

فالظلمُ قد كترت به الأبراح

Return to us, or grant us strength,

For oppression has caused agonies to multiply.

For injustice has spread widely its snares

طرقَ العلوجُ بلادنا بجيوشِهم

طرقَ العلوجُ بلادنا بجيوشِهم

ولهم علينا الحاكمُ السفّاح

ولهم علينا الحاكمُ السفّاح

The barbarians descended upon our land with their armies,

Their armies have invaded our countries

And their bloodthirsty ruler holds sway over us.

And over us rules the butcher

إن المظالم بالحروبِ تمخَّضت

إن المظالم بالحروبِ تمخَّضت

فاستَقتَلَ الجنديُّ والملاح

فاستَقتَلَ الجنديُّ والملاح

Indeed, injustices have given birth to wars,

Oppression has given birth through wars

So soldier and sailor fought to the death.

So the soldier and sailor were killed

شَقيَ الورى بدمارِهم وهلاكِهم

شَقيَ الورى بدمارِهم وهلاكِهم

وتنعَّم الطمَّاعُ والطمَّاح

وتنعَّم الطمَّاعُ والطمَّاح

People suffered through their devastation and death,

The world suffered from their ruin and destruction

While the greedy and the ambitious lived in luxury.

And the greedy and ambitious enjoyed themselves
