أترشقُني وبيتُكَ مِن زجاجِ

أترشقُني وبيتُكَ مِن زجاجِ

وبيتُ المجدِ من دُرٍّ وعاجِ

وبيتُ المجدِ من دُرٍّ وعاجِ

Do you pelt me, though your house is made of glass?

And the house of glory is made of pearls and ivory.

وقومي دوَّخوا روماً وفرساً

وقومي دوَّخوا روماً وفرساً

وتركاً ثم آبوا بالخراج

وتركاً ثم آبوا بالخراج

And my people subdued Romans and Persians,

And Turks, then returned with tribute.

وأندلسُ الجميلةُ عمَّروها

وأندلسُ الجميلةُ عمَّروها

فأطلعتِ الكواكبَ في الدياجي

فأطلعتِ الكواكبَ في الدياجي

And they made beautiful al-Andalus flourish,

So it brought forth stars in the dark nights.

وفيها من بني زهرٍ ورشدٍ

وفيها من بني زهرٍ ورشدٍ

وعبَّادٍ وصيدِ بني سراج

وعبَّادٍ وصيدِ بني سراج

And within it were men of the houses of Zuhr and Rushd,

And Abbad, and the proud nobles of Banu Sarraj.
