Do you bind a wound and wipe away tears,

and hope that fate will bring return and reunion?

And that sorrowful woman—you parted from her,

and your long exile has brought no benefit.

Alas, my sorrow! Shall I return, and shall I

    see my heavy fetters severed,

and my mother kissing my cheek and my hair,

bending tenderly over me and shedding tears,

then weep, my tears flowing over

her hands, and flourish as a branch through the root?

How much she and I have suffered, each of us

wiping away tears and concealing a fracture.

If, after farewell, there is a greeting,

I shall forgive my fate its wrong seven times over.

For in separation it deprived me of everything,

then returned to compensate me with a mother and a home.
