Come, let us rejoice, for winter has fled.

And the north wind has fled before the east wind.

And the homestead has wrapped itself in spring,

And, after its nakedness, is clothed in fresh garments.

As though it were the youth who was tormented

In his love until he became refined.

    The birds' singing stirs delight,

And flowers grow in the meadows and on the hills.

So the sun scatters gold upon them,

And its heat has melted the mountains' snow.

So it made the valley beautiful and fertile,

And the shade in the woods beckons the weary.

    O gentle season, welcome!

Life has become easy and pleasant in you.

My heart longed for you in winter,

Like a night traveler's yearning for a light that has faded.

If youth or spring should pass away,

There is no good in life—so say it sadly.
