رَوِّحِ الرُّوحَ ورنَّحْ شجَرا

O breeze that wafted by night from my people's homeland,

Refresh the soul and set the trees swaying.

إن يكن فيكَ سلامٌ لي فعُد

إن يكن فيكَ سلامٌ لي فعُد

بسلامي واروِ عنّي خَبرا

بسلامي واروِ عنّي خَبرا

If you bear a greeting for me, then return

With my greeting, and relate news of me.

يا رفيقي سِر على مَهلٍ وقِف

يا رفيقي سِر على مَهلٍ وقِف

إنّ دمعي مع شعوري انفَجَرا

إنّ دمعي مع شعوري انفَجَرا

O my companion, go slowly, and pause;

Indeed, my tears and my feelings have burst forth.

وعلى الآثارِ دَعني أنحني

وعلى الآثارِ دَعني أنحني

فأرى للدَّمعِ فيها أثرا

فأرى للدَّمعِ فيها أثرا

And let me bend over the traces,

So I may see in them a trace of tears,

وأشمَّ الأرضَ أو ألثُمَها

وأشمَّ الأرضَ أو ألثُمَها

فدوائي نفحةٌ من ذا الثَّرى

فدوائي نفحةٌ من ذا الثَّرى

And smell the earth, or kiss it;

For my cure is a whiff of this soil.

أنا إنسانٌ أليفٌ ذاكرٌ

أنا إنسانٌ أليفٌ ذاكرٌ

إنما الإنسانُ من قد ذكرا

إنما الإنسانُ من قد ذكرا

I am an affectionate human being who remembers;

Only those who remember are human.
