بيّاعةُ الزَّهر التي لم تُلمسِ
Love's purity and beauty were preserved for us
By the flower seller whom no one had touched.

She carried them to me in a basket, as though

For her mouth mirrors the bloom of Lebanon,
And her cheek holds a rose from Tunis.

And her smile upon the sweetest mouth was like
A butterfly alighting in the delightful spring.

I feared her figure might snap as she walked
On the lightest feet, in the daintiest dress.
