قُل للفرنجةِ بعد حكمٍ جائرِ

قُل للفرنجةِ بعد حكمٍ جائرِ

هَل تسمحونَ بنظرةٍ للزائرِ

هَل تسمحونَ بنظرةٍ للزائرِ

Say to the Franks, after unjust rule:

Tell the Franks, after their unjust rule,

Will you allow the visitor a look?

Will you allow a look from the visitor?

وإذا مررتَ على الجزائرِ قل لها

وإذا مررتَ على الجزائرِ قل لها

هلا ذكرتِ بلاءَ عبد القادر

هلا ذكرتِ بلاءَ عبد القادر

And when you pass by Algeria, say to her:

And if you pass by Algiers, tell it,

Why have you not recalled Abd al-Qadir's valor?

Why not mention the affliction of Abdelkader?

ذيّالِكَ البطلُ احتميتِ بسيفهِ

ذيّالِكَ البطلُ احتميتِ بسيفهِ

والرعبُ في قلبِ العدوِّ الغادر

والرعبُ في قلبِ العدوِّ الغادر

That very hero—you found protection in his sword,

That hero, who took refuge with his sword,

And terror lay in the treacherous enemy's heart.

And terror was in the heart of the treacherous enemy,

إن كنتِ ساليةً فسخطُ محمَّدٍ

إن كنتِ ساليةً فسخطُ محمَّدٍ

أو كنتِ صابرةً فحلمُ العاذر

أو كنتِ صابرةً فحلمُ العاذر

If you are forgetful, then Muhammad's wrath;

If you were defiant, then the wrath of Muhammad,

Or, if you are patient, the forgiving one's forbearance.

Or if you were patient, then the forebearance of the Chaste,

دومي على عهدِ العروبةِ والهُدى

دومي على عهدِ العروبةِ والهُدى

وثِقي بقهّارٍ لجيشِ القاهر

وثِقي بقهّارٍ لجيشِ القاهر

Remain true to the covenant of Arabhood and right guidance,

Always keep the covenant of Arabism and guidance,

And trust in a mighty vanquisher of the conqueror's army.

And trust in the All-Powerful of the victorious army,

وتذكري الشهداءَ في الحربِ التي

وتذكري الشهداءَ في الحربِ التي

ذهبت بكلِّ مجاهدٍ ومغاور

ذهبت بكلِّ مجاهدٍ ومغاور

And remember the martyrs in the war that

And remember the martyrs in the war that

Carried off every fighter and raider.

Took every mujahid and cave dweller,

فاذا أضَعتِ من النبيِّ أمانةً

فاذا أضَعتِ من النبيِّ أمانةً

ماذا يلاقي مؤمنٌ من كافرِ

ماذا يلاقي مؤمنٌ من كافرِ

So if you squander a trust from the Prophet,

So if you lost the Prophet's trust,

What will a believer face from an unbeliever?

What would a believer meet from an infidel?
