O Hind of passion, the origin of affliction
My two companions ended up in Karbala
Your glance fell on my heart like embers
And I am a pupil of Abul Ala
And from the night of Imru’ al-Qais it borrowed
Tresses beneath which the hair of splendor flows
And your cheek, al-Numan guarded it a flower
Its irrigation was provided by the water of the sky
