عيادةُvisiting the sick ذاتِthe woman endowed with اللطفٍkindness نحسبُهاwe deem it فرضاa duty
فماfor ... not هيshe إلاbut نجمةٌa star زارتِvisited الأرضاthe earth
We deem visiting the gracious lady a duty,
A visit of kindness we think obligatory
For she is but a star that visited the earth.
Yet it is but a star that graced the earth
علىdespite جهدِthe hardship ماwhat نلقىwe encounter أتيناwe came نعودُهاwe visit her in illness
ونأملُand we hope منهاfrom her أنthat تُعيدَshe repay لناto us القرضاthe loan
Despite the hardships we face, we came to visit her,
Despite our strife we'll give what we are able
And we hope she will repay us the loan.
And hope from her she'll refund the debt
يعزُّis painful عليناfor us أنthat نراهاwe see her مريضةًill
ولوand even if أكثرتshe made numerous منthrough حبِّهاlove for her بينناamong us المرضىthe sick
It pains us to see her ill,
It grieves us to see her become sickly
Even if she has made many among us sick with love for her.
Though she spread her love amongst the ailing throng
وَددناwe wished لوif only أنthat السقمَthe sickness فيناin us جميعُهُall of it
وكانتand she were معافاةًwell فذاكَfor that بهِwith it ترضىshe would be pleased
We wished that all the sickness were in us,
We wish that we possessed her every illness
And that she were well, for that would please her.
And she were healed - for that would please her more
