وجفانيand he shunned me الأميرthe prince كيso that أتقراI might take up recitation
وجفاني الأمير كي أتقرا
فتقرأتso I took up recitation مكرهاunwillingly لجفائهbecause he shunned me
فتقرأت مكرها لجفائه
The prince shunned me so that I would take up recitation.
So I took it up unwillingly because he shunned me.
والذيand that which أنطويI harbor within عليهwithin it المعاصيsins
والذي أنطوي عليه المعاصي
علمGod knows اللهGod نيتيmy intention منfrom سمائهHis heaven
علم الله نيتي من سمائه
And the sins I harbor within—
God knows my intention from His heaven.
ماno قراةٌrecitation لمكرهbecause of his coercion بقراةٍis recitation
ما قراةٌ لمكره بقراةٍ
قدindeed رواهhe related it الأميرthe prince عنfrom فقهائهhis jurists
قد رواه الأمير عن فقهائه
Recitation under coercion is no recitation.
The prince has related this from his jurists.
