وكُنَّاand we were نُرَجِّيwe hoped for مِنfrom إمامٍan imam زيادَةًan increase
وكُنَّا نُرَجِّي مِن إمامٍ زيادَةً
فَزَادَbut increased الإمامُthe imam المُصطَفَىthe chosen فيin القلانِسِthe caps
فَزَادَ الإمامُ المُصطَفَى في القلانِسِ
And we had hoped for some increase from an Imam—
And we had hoped for an increase from an imam,
but the chosen Imam increased the caps.
But the chosen imam enlarged the caps.
تَرَاهاyou see them عَلَىupon هَامِthe crowns of the heads الرِّجالِof the men كأنَّهاas though they were
تَرَاها عَلَى هَامِ الرِّجالِ كأنَّها
دِنَانُwine jars يَهُودٍof Jews جُلِّلتwere draped بالبَرانِسِin hooded cloaks
دِنَانُ يَهُودٍ جُلِّلت بالبَرانِسِ
You see them atop the heads of men as though they were
