أباO Abu مُجرِمٍMujrim (criminal) ماnot غَيَّرَchanged اللهُGod نِعمَةًa blessing
أبا مُجرِمٍ ما غَيَّرَ اللهُ نِعمَةً
عَلَىupon عَبدِهِHis servant حَتَّىuntil يُغَيِّرَهاhe changes it العَبدُthe servant
عَلَى عَبدِهِ حَتَّى يُغَيِّرَها العَبدُ
Abu Mujrim, God has never altered a blessing
O Abu Mujrim, God does not change a blessing
bestowed upon His servant until the servant himself alters it.

أباO Abu مُجرِمٍMujrim (criminal) خَوَّفتَنيyou threatened me with القَتلَdeath فَانتَحَىso advanced to attack
أبا مُجرِمٍ خَوَّفتَني القَتلَ فَانتَحَى
عَلَيكَagainst you بماwith what خَوَّفتَنِيyou threatened me with الأسَدُthe lion الوَردُtawny
عَلَيكَ بما خَوَّفتَنِي الأسَدُ الوَردُ
Abu Mujrim, you threatened me with death; now
O Abu Mujrim, you threatened me with death; then charged
the tawny lion has turned upon you with the very death you threatened me with.

أَفيwas it in دَولَةِthe reign of المَهدِيِّal-Mahdi حَاوَلتَyou attempted غَدرَةًan act of treachery
أَفي دَولَةِ المَهدِيِّ حَاوَلتَ غَدرَةً
ألاbehold إنَّindeed أَهلَthe people of الغَدرِtreachery آباؤُكَyour forefathers الكُردُthe Kurds
ألا إنَّ أَهلَ الغَدرِ آباؤُكَ الكُردُ
Under al-Mahdi’s rule, did you seek to betray me?
In al-Mahdi's reign did you attempt an act of treachery?
Behold: the people of treachery are your forefathers—the Kurds.
Behold, the treacherous are your forefathers, the Kurds.
