إِذهَبي بِاللَهوِ فَاِستَمَعي

إِذهَبي بِاللَهوِ فَاِستَمَعي

خَبِّريهِ بِالَّذي فَعَلا

خَبِّريهِ بِالَّذي فَعَلا

Put amusement aside, then listen.

Tell him about what he did.

وَسَليهِ فيمَ يَصرِمُنا

وَسَليهِ فيمَ يَصرِمُنا

قَد وَصَلناهُ فَما وَصَلا

قَد وَصَلناهُ فَما وَصَلا

And ask him why he cuts us off.

We have maintained ties with him, but he has not.

وَتَجَنّى حينَ لِنتُ لَهُ

وَتَجَنّى حينَ لِنتُ لَهُ

دَأَبَ صُحرٍ تَبتَغي العِلَلا

دَأَبَ صُحرٍ تَبتَغي العِلَلا

And he contrived grievances when I grew gentle toward him,

In the manner of Ṣuḥr, who seeks pretexts.
