وُلِدَ العبدُ الذي إنعامكُم

وُلِدَ العبدُ الذي إنعامكُم

طينةٌ أُنشِئَ منها جسدُه

طينةٌ أُنشِئَ منها جسدُه

The servant has been born, for whom your bounty

The servant whom your favors raised

is the clay from which his body was fashioned.

Was made of clay which formed his frame

وَهوَ دون اسمٍ لِعِلمِي أَنَّهُ

وَهوَ دون اسمٍ لِعِلمِي أَنَّهُ

لا يُسَمِّي العَبدَ إلاّ سيدُه

لا يُسَمِّي العَبدَ إلاّ سيدُه

And he is without a name, for I know that

And nameless he remains, for I know

none but his master names the servant.

That none but masters name their slaves.
