قضىhe fulfilled حقوقthe rights اللَهِof God فيagainst أعدائهHis enemies
قضى حقوق اللَهِ في أعدائه
ثمthen انثنىhe turned back والنصرُand victory تحتbeneath لوائهِhis banner
ثم انثنى والنصرُ تحت لوائهِ
He fulfilled God's claims against His enemies;
He fulfilled the rights of God against His enemies
then turned back, victory beneath his banner.
Then turned back victorious under his banner
بحرa sea طمىrose in flood والبأسُand martial might منamong أمواجهِits waves
بحر طمى والبأسُ من أمواجهِ
صبحa dawn بداappeared والحقُّand truth منamong أضوائهits rays
صبح بدا والحقُّ من أضوائه
A sea in flood, with martial might among its waves;
A raging sea with destruction in its waves
a dawn that broke, with truth among its rays.
Dawn shone and truth radiated its lights
عمدٌa pillar أقامestablished بهthrough him المهيمنُthe Guardian حقهHis truth
عمدٌ أقام به المهيمنُ حقه
والحقُّand truth عمدةُthe pillar أرضهِof His earth وسمائهand His heaven
والحقُّ عمدةُ أرضهِ وسمائه
A pillar through whom the Guardian established His truth;
A pillar he erected by which the All-Powerful established His right
and truth is the pillar of His earth and heaven.
And truth is the pillar of His earth and heavens
وأباحهand He made lawful for him مهجthe lifeblood العداof the foes فكأنماso it was as though
وأباحه مهج العدا فكأنما
قدalready نصلتwere fitted with points أرماحهhis spears بقضائهwith His decree
قد نصلت أرماحه بقضائه
And He made the foes' lifeblood lawful for him, as though
He unleashed against them the swords' blows as though
his spears had been tipped with His decree.
His spears had reached them by His decree
أغزىhe sent to war بهمagainst them جيشاًan army تضيقis too narrow الأرضُthe earth عنfor
أغزى بهم جيشاً تضيق الأرضُ عن
أفواجهits legions والوهمُand imagination عنfor إحصائهcounting it
أفواجه والوهمُ عن إحصائه
He sent an army against them; the earth was too narrow for
He stormed them with an army, the earth too narrow for
its legions, and imagination too limited to number it.
Its regiments or imagination to count them
كالعارضlike a cloud الثجاجpouring torrents ملءfilling هوائهits sky
كالعارض الثجاج ملء هوائه
لكنbut دمُblood الأبطالِof the heroes منfrom أنوائهits rainstorms
لكن دمُ الأبطالِ من أنوائه
Like a cloud pouring torrents, filling its sky,
Like thick clouds filling the sky
but heroes' blood is what its showers bring.
But the blood of heroes dyed its currents
لماwhen رأىhe saw للشركof idolatry رسماًa vestige ماثلاًstanding
لما رأى للشرك رسماً ماثلاً
أوهىhe weakened قواهits strength وجدand strove فيin إقوائهlaying it waste
أوهى قواه وجد في إقوائه
When he saw a vestige of idolatry standing,
When he saw the abomination of polytheism persisting
he weakened its strength and strove to lay it waste.
He weakened its forces and relied on his own
أنحىhe bore down عليهupon it بالصوارمwith sharp swords والقناand spears
أنحى عليه بالصوارم والقنا
حتىuntil إذاwhen لمdid not يبقremain غيرُother than ذمائِهِits last breath
حتى إذا لم يبق غيرُ ذمائِهِ
He bore down upon it with sharp swords and spears,
He inclined toward it with swords and spears
until, when nothing remained but its last breath,
Until nothing remained but their bodies
أبقاهhe spared it والذعرِwhile terror المخيفُterrifying يبيدُهannihilates it
أبقاه والذعرِ المخيفُ يبيدُه
فكأنهso it was as though سبعa beast of prey علىover أشلائهits torn limbs
فكأنه سبع على أشلائه
he spared it, while terrifying dread destroyed it,
He spared them, though terror was destroying them
as though it were a beast of prey over its torn limbs.
As if he were a lion over its torn limbs
مستأصلاًuprooting شيئاًa little فشيئاًthen a little أمرهمtheir power
مستأصلاً شيئاً فشيئاً أمرهم
كرcharged anew الزمانtime بصبحهwith its morning ومسائهand its evening
كر الزمان بصبحه ومسائه
Uprooting their power little by little,
Uprooting their matter little by little
time charged anew with its morning and evening.
Time circulates with its mornings and evenings
