    Come, pardon the steed that stumbled as it ran.

    Can a steed stand firm with mankind and Time upon it?

    Pride filled it—if indeed you were upon its back,

    Then that, by my life, was a stumble brought on by pride.

    أيخرج عن أثناء هالته البَدرُ

    You stayed firm upon it when it stumbled, with poise;

    Does the full moon leave the midst of its halo?

    And it did not know whether you held it back or spurred it on.

    And conceit has an intoxication no other intoxication can match.
