إِنّا إِلى اللَّهِ ماذا حَلَّ بِالدِّينِ

إِنّا إِلى اللَّهِ ماذا حَلَّ بِالدِّينِ

مِنَ الطِّوالِ اللِّحى البيضِ العَثانينِ

مِنَ الطِّوالِ اللِّحى البيضِ العَثانينِ

To God we return! What has befallen the faith

We are destined to God, what has happened to religion?

At the hands of those with long beards and white chin-whiskers?

From the long bearded white Anatolians

باعوا رِضَى اللَّهِ وَاِبتاعوا مَساخِطَهُ

باعوا رِضَى اللَّهِ وَاِبتاعوا مَساخِطَهُ

وَغَيَّروا الشَّرعَ يا للَّهِ لِلدِّينِ

وَغَيَّروا الشَّرعَ يا للَّهِ لِلدِّينِ

They sold God's approval and bought what displeases Him,

They sold the pleasure of God and bought His wrath

And altered the sacred law—O God, help the faith!

And they altered the Sharia, oh God, what has happened to religion?

أَضحَت شَهادَتُهُم بِالزُّورِ ناطِقَةً

أَضحَت شَهادَتُهُم بِالزُّورِ ناطِقَةً

إِنَّ الشُّهودَ لأَعوانُ الشَّياطينِ

إِنَّ الشُّهودَ لأَعوانُ الشَّياطينِ

Their testimony has come to speak falsehood;

Their testimonies with lies have become eloquent

Indeed, the witnesses are the devils' helpers.

فَاِرحَل أَخي راشِداً عَن أَرضِ شاطِبَةٍ

فَاِرحَل أَخي راشِداً عَن أَرضِ شاطِبَةٍ

فَما المُقامُ بِها إِلا مِنَ الهونِ

فَما المُقامُ بِها إِلا مِنَ الهونِ

So depart, my brother, rightly guided, from the land of Shatiba,

So depart, my brother, wisely from the barren land

For staying there is nothing but humiliation.

As staying there is nothing but disgrace
