أَلحَمدُpraise لِلَّهِto God بَلَغنَاwe have attained المُنَىwishes
أَلحَمدُ لِلَّهِ بَلَغنَا المُنَى
لاno حَدَّprescribed punishment فيfor الخَمرِwine وَلاnor فيfor الغِناsinging
لا حَدَّ في الخَمرِ وَلا في الغِنا
Praise be to God; we have attained our wishes.
Praise be to God, we have reached our goal
There is no prescribed punishment for wine, nor for singing.
No limits on wine or song
قَدindeed حَلَّلَmade lawful القاضِيthe judge لَناfor us ذاthis وَذاand that
قَد حَلَّلَ القاضِي لَنا ذا وَذا
وَإِنand if شَكَرناهُwe thank him أَحَلَّhe will make lawful الزِناfornication
وَإِن شَكَرناهُ أَحَلَّ الزِنا
The judge has made this and that lawful for us.
The judge has made this or that lawful for us
And if we thank him, he will make fornication lawful.
And if we thank him, adultery too
