فِيthrough عَفوِهِhis clemency الأَبعدِfarther-reaching منthan شَدِّهِhis severity
فِي عَفوِهِ الأَبعدِ من شَدِّهِ
O master who has attained the summit of eminence,
O master who has attained the heights of glory
Through your clemency, farther-reaching than your severity;
In his forgiving, far from his severity
وَمَنand one who غَدَاbecame المَجدُglory لَهُfor him حُلّةًa robe

مِن عَمِّهِ المَهدِيِّ أَو جَدِّهِ
And you, for whom glory has become a robe,
And he whose glory has become his raiment
From your uncle al-Mahdi or your grandfather:
From his benevolent uncle or his ancestors

يَعثُرُ لِلخَجلةش فِي بُردِهِ
Your runaway servant is forlorn,
Your errant slave feels lonely
Stumbling from shame in his cloak.
Stumbling in his shame into the cold

So restore him to favor, and cease reproaching him,
So grant him your reproach and leave his blame
So long as excuses are among his troops.
As long as excuses are his allies
