يَاO أَيُّهَاyou السَّائِلُthe inquirer عَنabout مَنزِلِيmy dwelling
نَزَلتُI lodged فِيin الخَانِthe inn عَلَىat the expense of نَفسِيmyself
O you who ask about my dwelling,
I have lodged at the inn at my own expense.
I go in the morning إِلَىfor الخُبزِthe bread مِنfrom خَابِزٍa baker
لاَnot يَقبَلُhe accepts الرَّهنَthe pledge وَلاَand not يُنسِيhe gives credit
I go each morning for bread from a baker
who accepts no pledge and gives no credit.
آكُلُI eat مِنfrom كِيسِيmy purse وَمِنand from كِسوَتِيmy clothing
حَتَّىuntil لَقَدindeed أَوجَعَنِيhas hurt me ضِرسِيmy molar
I eat from my purse and from my clothing,
until, indeed, my molar has grown sore.
