فَكَمfor how many كَشَفَاthey both dispelled مِنof كُربةٍa distress بَعدَafter كُربةٍa distress
تَقُولُsays لَهَاto it النِّيرَانُthe fires كُفِّيrestrain أُوَارَاكِyour blazing heat
For how often have they both dispelled distress after distress,
to which the fires say, 'Curb your blaze!'
وَكَمand how many لَبَّياthey both answered منof دَعوةٍa plea وَتَدَارَكَاand they both rescued
شَفَاa last remnant of رَمَقٍlife مَاnot كَانَwas بِالمُتَدَارَكِat all recoverable
And how often have they both answered a plea and rescued
a last remnant of life that was beyond saving.
