لاَ تلوموا على التَّأخُّرِ حيناً

لاَ تلوموا على التَّأخُّرِ حيناً

وابسُطوا العذرَ في تَأَنِّي اللّحاق

وابسُطوا العذرَ في تَأَنِّي اللّحاق

Do not reproach a brief delay,

Do not blame me for being late

And extend pardon for taking time to catch up;

And excuse my slow pace

فأبوكم على قديم اللَّيالي

فأبوكم على قديم اللَّيالي

فازَ سَبقاً على جَناحِ البُراق

فازَ سَبقاً على جَناحِ البُراق

For your father, in nights long past,

For your father in his old age

Gained the lead upon the wing of al-Buraq.

Has outrun me on Al-Burāq's wing
