جسمٌ من النُورِ في ثوبٍ من النارِ

كأنَّهُ ذهبٌ من فوق بُلارِ

كأنَّهُ ذهبٌ من فوق بُلارِ

A body of light in a robe of fire,

As though it were gold above crystal.

فابيضَّ باطنها واصفرَّ ظاهرها

فابيضَّ باطنها واصفرَّ ظاهرها

كأنّها درهمٌ من تحت دينارِ

كأنّها درهمٌ من تحت دينارِ

So its inside turned white, and its outside turned yellow,

As though it were a dirham beneath a dinar.

محفوفة برماحٍ من منابتها

محفوفة برماحٍ من منابتها

مشحونة بين ارواح وأمطارِ

مشحونة بين ارواح وأمطارِ

Surrounded by spears from the places where it grows,

Laden amid winds and rains.

عطريَّة لم تطيّب للّقاء ولا

عطريَّة لم تطيّب للّقاء ولا

مدَّت يميناً إلى حانوتِ عطّارِ

مدَّت يميناً إلى حانوتِ عطّارِ

Fragrant, it did not perfume itself for a meeting, nor

Did it extend its right hand toward a perfumer's shop.
