    And a yellow, narcissus-hued ‘tattler’,

free from all kinds of defect and reproach,

boasted of superiority over the tattler, linked

to it by its name, acting like one with wit and inspiration.

It said: Mine is the advantage; indeed, by day and in

my night I reveal my fragrance, at my dawn and in my darkness.

And you, O claimant to my name, throughout your day are not

brought, cast aside as you are, to a keen sniffer’s nose.

And indeed, your color is copper’s color, while my

color, in its beauty, is a kind of gold.
