وأبيَضand a white one ناصِعٍbrilliantly white صافيunblemished الأديمِthe skin
وأبيَض ناصِعٍ صافي الأديمِ
تطَلَّعَrose up فَوقَabove مُخضَرٍّgreen growth بَهيمِdark
تطَلَّعَ فَوقَ مُخضَرٍّ بَهيمِ
And a dazzling white blossom, with unblemished skin,
With immaculate, pure white skin
Rose above dark green foliage.
He looked down upon the verdant, lively land
نَزيهُpure النَفسِthe soul همَّتُهُits aspiration المَعاليthe heights
نَزيهُ النَفسِ همَّتُهُ المَعالي
ذكِيُّintense العَرفِthe fragrance مِسكيّmusk-scented الأديمِthe skin
ذكِيُّ العَرفِ مِسكيّ الأديمِ
Pure of soul, it aspires to the heights,
Noble of spirit, his ambition was glory
Richly fragrant, with musk-scented skin.
Wise and distinguished, perfumed with musk
فَلَستَso you do not تراهُsee it الاexcept عِندَwith مَلكٍa king
فَلَستَ تراهُ الا عِندَ مَلكٍ
والاor else عِندَwith خاصّيٍّa man of distinction كَرِيمِnoble
والا عِندَ خاصّيٍّ كَرِيمِ
So you see it only with a king,
You would only see him with a king
Or else with a noble man of distinction.
Or beside a generous, noble friend
شأىoutstripped النوّارَthe blossoms فارتَفعso it rose اعتِراشاًby climbing
شأى النوّارَ فارتَفع اعتِراشاً
عَلَيهِabove them كهَيئَةِlike the form of المَلِكِthe king العَظيمِmighty
عَلَيهِ كهَيئَةِ المَلِكِ العَظيمِ
It outstripped the blossoms, rising as it climbed,
He wished for enlightenment and soared high
Above them, like a mighty king.
Above him like a great, majestic king
كأنas though ثمارَهُits fruit المَجنيَّplucked مِنهاfrom it
كأن ثمارَهُ المَجنيَّ مِنها
سماءٌa sky قَدalready تَحَلَّتadorned itself بالنُجومِwith the stars
سماءٌ قَد تَحَلَّت بالنُجومِ
As though its fruit, plucked from it,
It was as if the ripe fruits upon him
Were a sky adorned with stars.
