بسب اللَيالي أَو صروف الزَمان

We see an upbringing go awry, and so content ourselves

We see a life that does not go straight so we are content

With cursing the nights or the vicissitudes of time.

With the fault of nights or the turns of time

وَنغمض عَن أَخلاقنا الطرف عندما

وَنغمض عَن أَخلاقنا الطرف عندما

نَراها مصابا ظاهرا لعيان

نَراها مصابا ظاهرا لعيان

And we turn a blind eye to our morals when

And we close our eyes to our morals when

We see them as an affliction plain to the eye.

We see them apparently afflicted and evident to all

أَينبت نشء صالح فوق تربة

بدار بها الزوجان يختصمان

Can a virtuous generation sprout upon soil

Where can good offspring grow in a house
