خذ الكاس من كف النَديم فان لي

خذ الكاس من كف النَديم فان لي

من السكر بالمَعنى اكتفاء عَن الكاس

من السكر بالمَعنى اكتفاء عَن الكاس

Take the cup from the boon companion’s hand, for I

Take the cup from the drinking companion’s hand, for I find

have intoxication through spiritual meaning, enough without the cup.

In intoxication through meaning enough to dispense with the cup.

وَناج ابنة العنقود فيها تلذذا

وَناج ابنة العنقود فيها تلذذا

فَما لذتي الا مناجاة جلاسي

فَما لذتي الا مناجاة جلاسي

Converse with the daughter of the grape cluster, delighting in her;

And commune with the grape cluster’s daughter, delighting in her,

for my only pleasure is conversing with those who sit beside me.

For my pleasure is only intimate conversation with my companions.
