تاقي عَلى المَرء احيان تحيره
يَلقىhe finds سَعادتهhis happiness فيهاin them بقولهby his saying لاno
يَلقى سَعادته فيها بقوله لا
Moments come upon a person and bewilder him;
Sometimes perplexity weighs upon a man,
He finds his happiness in them by saying “no.”
And in it he finds his happiness by saying no.
اماas for الشهامةnobility فيon اليومthe day العَصيبtrying فَفيthen in
اما الشهامة في اليوم العَصيب فَفي
قولthe saying الفَتىthe young man وَهُوَwhile he is مرتاحat ease الضَميرthe conscience بَلىyes
قول الفَتى وَهُوَ مرتاح الضَمير بَلى
As for nobility on a trying day, it lies in
But as for courage on the fateful day, it lies
A young man's saying “yes,” his conscience at ease.
In the youth's saying yes, with an easy conscience.
