I long for the gardens' meadows.
The gardens of paradise I yearn for
Blessed is my Lord, their Creator.
Blessed is my Lord, their Creator

For their flowers are the strings of my heart,
The strings of my heart are their flowers
And their leaves are my soul's antidote.
And the remedy for my soul are their leaves

وَسوسنتيand my iris بعضone of تلكthose الزهورthe flowers
I stretched my hand toward my iris,
I stretched my hand toward my lily
And my iris is one of those flowers.
And my lily is one of those flowers

The babbling of the streams revives her,
The murmuring of streams revives it
And she finds comfort in the sound of birds.
And it finds comfort in the voice of birds

Blossoms surround her with beauty, just as
Flowers surround it beautifully
Necklaces encircle certain necks.
As jewels adorn some girls

And her gardener, full of joy,
Its gardens in delight protect it
Guards her beauty as he would a lady behind curtains.
Like virtuous and chaste women

He teaches her haughtiness, until
Solitude teaches it until when
She appears and her radiance defies him.
Its brilliance appears challenging it

I touched her with my palm and turned to
I touched it with my palm and turned
My right, toward the well-trodden paths,
To the right on the smooth paths

Until I saw—and oh, the horror of what
Until I saw, oh what I saw
I saw of noble forms.
Of the remarkable images
هناكthere معamong الشوكthe thorns زنبقةa lily
اراهاI see her إِلىto وحدهاby herself ذابلةwithered
There, among the thorns, was a lily;
There a lily with thorns
I see her all alone, withered.
I saw it by itself withering
فكنتso I was أُحاولtrying تَقبيلهاto kiss her
وارجىءand I postpone نَفسيmyself إِلىuntil القابلةthe following night
So I would try to kiss her,
So I tried to kiss it
And put myself off until the following night.
And restrained myself for the future

And I fear that, if I return tomorrow,
And I fear if tomorrow I return
Wailing will tell me of her death.
Sorrow will teach me of its demise

O lily of the garden, what has befallen
O lily of the garden what has befallen
Your youth, till withering overtook you?
Your youth until withering afflicted you

واملاقهاand her poverty دونbefore سعدhappiness يَحولintervenes
Perhaps you are like a girl among our people,
Maybe you are like a girl among our people
And her poverty stands in the way of happiness.
Her destiny is loss without happiness changing it

We see beauty in her, but she does not
We see in her beauty but she does not
See gracious acceptance in us.
See in us the beauty of acceptance
فَتصبحso it becomes زهرتهاher flower فيin ذويwithering
وَتصبحand it becomes نجمتهاher star فيin افولsetting
So her flower begins to wither,
So her flower withers while still
And her star begins to set.
And her star sets while still rising

So we lament a deed we ourselves have done,
We complain of a treatment we came with
And her character tempts us to murder.
And she harbors resentment for its cruelty
