The doves, my friend, called to mind
You reminded me, O friend of paper,
Our bygone days in Zarud.
Of our past days in Zaroud,

And how much its lovely grounds offered—
How pleasant was our life there,
Sweet living and a lovely, bashful maiden!
Full of comfort and tranquility.

And will Sulayma preserve for us
Will our gatherings remain as we knew them,
What we have known, or generously grant union?
Filled with generosity and friendship?

My sorrow and my anxiety vanish together,
My worries and restlessness will vanish
And closeness grows sweet after rejection.
When we reunite after separation.
لِلّهby God! ماwhat بيwithin me منof الأشواقlongings

By God, what longing fills me!
I long for my loved ones,
Were it to settle on lofty mountains, they would turn to sand.
If they were to return, the sands would sing,

Books and pages bring no relief,
Books and pages cannot cure
For nothing heals the lovesick except union
A longing heart but through reunion.

With one whose eyes are languid with drowsiness,
With languid, sleepy eyes,
Radiant of face, exquisite in beauty,
Yet a radiant, beautiful face,

As though he were the full moon in darkness,
He looked like the full moon in dusk,
Firmly set [wording unclear], curly-haired, his tresses black.
His black curls cascading down.
وكمand how many فيin الدهرtime منof نفحاتbreaths of grace
لربناof our Lord ضدّcontrary to ماwhat فيin الظنونexpectations
And how many breaths of grace the ages hold,
Through time, there were many breeze-like moments
From our Lord, contrary to our expectations!
That went against what we assumed,

And sorrow and regrets vanish,
Worries and regrets would disappear
And through reunion, eyes find joy.
When eyes meet again in joy.

And God restores what has been lost,
What was lost, God will restore,
Contrary to what the deluded suggest.
Unlike what the deluded imagine.

Indeed, his noble deeds are abundant,
For generosity flows from Him,
So grant him, our Lord, what he desires.
So may He grant all that one desires.

Blessing the Prophet again and again.
