1. يا من توجه إليه كلى

    ومن في الموبقات عوني

    O you toward whom my whole being has turned,

    And you who are my help amid ruinous sins.

  2. أنتم دوائي وأصل دائي

    تفننت فيكم فنوني

    You are my remedy and the source of my ailment.

    My arts have taken many forms in you.

  3. لِلّه شيء من فيض فضل

    أنا ضعيف فلاطفوني

    For God's sake, a little of grace's outpouring.

    I am weak, so treat me gently.

  4. لِلّه شيء من ديم جود

    أنا فقير فاسعدوني

    For God's sake, a little of generosity's steady rains.

    I am poor, so gladden me.

  5. لِلّه شيء من عين كرم

    أنا سقيم فارحموني

    For God's sake, a little from generosity's spring.

    I am ailing, so have mercy on me.

  6. لِلّه شيء من عطف لطف

    أنا بعيد فقرّبوني

    For God's sake, a little of gentle compassion.

    I am far away, so draw me near.

  7. لِلّه شيء من برد وصل

    أنا معيب فاقبلوني

    For God's sake, a little of union's coolness.

    I am flawed, so accept me.

  8. لِلّه شيء من سبل ستر

    أنا مقلّ فاستروني

    For God's sake, some means of concealment.

    I am impoverished, so veil me.

  9. لِلّه شيء من حسن نظر

    بعين رحمتكم انظروني

    For God's sake, a little of a kindly gaze.

    Look upon me with the eye of your mercy.

  10. فأنتم أهل لكلّ فضل

    ولست أهلاً فأهلوني

    For you are worthy of every excellence.

    And I am not worthy, so make me worthy.

  11. هل غيركم فيه نجح أملي

    كلا فلا تلمحه عيوني

    Can my hope find fulfillment in anyone but you?

    No; my eyes do not glimpse any other.

  12. فكلّ كون بكم تكوّن

    وأنتم أصل كون كوني

    For all existence came into being through you.

    And you are the source of my being's existence.

  13. وأيّ باب إليه تصمد

    حوائجي فاسمعوا حنيني

    And toward which door are directed

    my needs? So hear my yearning.

  14. خلقتم الضعف فيّ أصلاً

    بغير خلقي تطالبوني

    You created weakness in me from the start.

    You demand of me what is contrary to my nature.

  15. كلّ الكمال عنكم تكمل

    فبالتفضل فعاملوني

    All perfection has attained its fullness from you.

    So treat me with gracious favor.

  16. على الحقيقة فلست شيئاً

    فبالتعرّف فعرّفوني

    In truth, I am nothing.

    So, through self-disclosure, grant me knowledge.

  17. كسبي وأن كان ثم كسب

    فمنكم كان فاصلحوني

    My gain—if there is any gain—

    came from you; so set me right.

  18. كسبي محبتكم يقين

    فمن مشيئتكم شئوني

    My gain is love for you, without doubt.

    So my affairs arise from your will.

  19. يا حبذا حبكم مقاما

    حاشا كم بعد تهملوني

    Oh, how lovely a station is love for you!

    Far be it from you to neglect me afterward.

  20. لا أستمع فيكم عذولي

    ان عاندوني وعنفوني

    I do not heed my reproacher where you are concerned,

    Even if they oppose me and berate me.

  21. فحبكم لي ألذّ عيشاً

    وقد حلا فيكم جنوني

    For love of you is the sweetest life to me,

    And my madness for you has indeed grown sweet.

  22. واللَه لو شئت قلت قولاً

    تكلّ الأبطال عنه دوني

    And by God, if I wished, I would utter a saying

    at which champions would falter, though I would not.

  23. فخري بهم لا بفخر نفسي

    باللَه يا إخواني اعذروني

    My pride is in them, not in boasting of myself.

    By God, O my brothers, excuse me.

  24. أستغفر اللَه من ذنوبي

    ومن عيوبي وكلّ شيني

    I ask God's forgiveness for my sins,

    And for my faults and all that shames me.

  25. واختم صلاة مع السلام

    على النبيّ الصادق الأمين

    And I conclude with blessings and peace

    upon the truthful, trustworthy Prophet.
