بعين اللطف راعوني

O my beloveds, take me into your care.

My loved ones care for me

With the eye of kindness, watch over me.

With kindness in their eyes they tend me

وكونوا سادتي عوني

وكونوا سادتي عوني

وسيروا بي على هوني

وسيروا بي على هوني

And be my help, my masters.

Be my masters, give me support

And lead me along at my ease.

And guide me in gentleness

اذا صفت العبوديه

اذا صفت العبوديه

وصح القصد والنيه

وصح القصد والنيه

When servanthood becomes pure,

If I profess servitude

And purpose and intention are sound,

With true intention and purpose

وفنيت كل بشريه

وفنيت كل بشريه

فحينئذ فهنوني

فحينئذ فهنوني

And all human nature has vanished,

And abandon all humanity

Then, at that moment, congratulate me.

وخيره كله خيرك

Wretched is a servant who sees anything but you,

Wretched is the servant who sees other than You

And all his good is your bounty;

And finds goodness in any but Yours

اقامه حسن تدبيرك

عمى قلبه مع العين

عمى قلبه مع العين

Your gracious governance has sustained him;

The excellence of Your wise governance

His heart is blind, and his eye as well.

Has blinded his heart along with his eyes

أنا راضي بما قلتم

أنا راضي بما قلتم

منعتم وصلي أو جدتم

منعتم وصلي أو جدتم

I am content with what you have said,

I am content with what You have ordained

Whether you denied me union or gave generously.

You have denied or granted my union

فأنتم أنت أنتم

فأنتم أنت أنتم

فحاشاكم تهينوني

فحاشاكم تهينوني

For you all are you—you all.

For You are You are You

So far be it from you to humiliate me.

So shame on those who dishonor me

هواكم فرض كل الفرض

هواكم فرض كل الفرض

ولو قرضتموني قرض

ولو قرضتموني قرض

Love for you is duty in its fullest measure,

Your love is an obligation above all obligations

Even if you cut me to pieces.

Even if You destroy me

أنا العبد الفقير المحض

أنا العبد الفقير المحض

بوسع غناكم كم أغنوني

بوسع غناكم كم أغنوني

I am the servant, utterly poor;

I am a poor and destitute servant

With your vast wealth, enrich me greatly.

Yet Your songs enrich me greatly

اذا ما غيركم مطلوب

ولا لي غيركم محبوب

ولا لي غيركم محبوب

When none but you is sought,

If any but You were sought

Nor have I any beloved but you,

Or if I loved any but You

وفيكم غاية المرغوب

وفيكم غاية المرغوب

على ماشا تحيلوني

على ماشا تحيلوني

And in you lies the ultimate object of desire,

And in You lies the ultimate desire

To whatever he wills [uncertain reading], you consign me.

Toward what do You point me?

أنا الواله بكم صدقا

أنا الواله بكم صدقا

وأنا الفاني بكم عشقا

وأنا الفاني بكم عشقا

I am truly enraptured by you,

I am sincerely devoted to You

And I am effaced in you through passionate love.

And annihilated in You through passion

وها أنا عبدكم

وها أنا عبدكم

رقا فباللَه لا تبيعوني

رقا فباللَه لا تبيعوني

And here I am, your slave,

So for God's sake, do not sell me

In bondage; so, by God, do not sell me.

Rebuke me, I cannot hear You

عذولي لست أسمعكم

عذولي لست أسمعكم

ولا في العذل اتبعكم

ولا في العذل اتبعكم

My reproacher, I do not heed you,

Nor in rebuke can I follow You

Nor do I follow you in reproach.

Even if You reconciled completely

ولو صلتم بأجمعكم

ولو صلتم بأجمعكم

وربي ما تهولوني

وربي ما تهولوني

Even if you all assail me together,

By my Lord, You cannot frighten me

By my Lord, you do not frighten me.

My endless praise is for my Lord

وحمدي دائم مدرار لرب

وحمدي دائم مدرار لرب

منعسم ستار

منعسم ستار

And my praise pours forth unceasingly for a Lord—

You have adorned me with a veil

Bountiful [uncertain reading], concealing faults.

As You have privileged the Chosen

كما قد خصّ بالمختار

كما قد خصّ بالمختار

وقدّر دينه ديني

وقدّر دينه ديني

Just as he has granted special favor through the Chosen One,

And ordained His religion as mine

And ordained his religion to be mine.
