يا قلب لا تسمو بعزم بارد

O heart, do not soar with lukewarm resolve,

O heart, do not aspire with cold determination

If you seek the highest of all goals.

If you intend the utmost intentions

لا يرددك دون الورود وارد

لا يرددك دون الورود وارد

يكون قصدك واحداً لواحد

يكون قصدك واحداً لواحد

Let nothing that comes your way turn you back before you reach the water.

Let no thorn deter you from the roses

Let your aim be one, directed to the One.

Make your aim one for one

حب السلامه يحرم السلامة

حب السلامه يحرم السلامة

لا يمنعك عمن تشا ملامه

لا يمنعك عمن تشا ملامه

Love of safety deprives you of safety.

Love of peace prohibits peace

Let no reproach keep you from whomever you desire.

Let no blamer prevent you from whom you desire

ان كان لك مرمى لريم رامه

ان كان لك مرمى لريم رامه

لا تستمع واشي ولا معاند

لا تستمع واشي ولا معاند

If you have your sights set on the gazelle of Rāmah,

If you have an aim for a lovely gazelle

Do not heed a tale-bearer or an adversary.

Do not listen to slanderers nor opponents

من لم يخاطر في الهوى بغاليه

من لم يخاطر في الهوى بغاليه

فلا يذق في الحبّ قطّ حاليه

فلا يذق في الحبّ قطّ حاليه

Whoever has not risked what he holds dear in love,

Whoever does not risk his most precious in love

Then let him never taste the sweetness of love.

Will never taste its sweetness

كم لي أنادي ما لقيت شاريه

كم لي أنادي ما لقيت شاريه

روحي بنظره في الذي أكابد

روحي بنظره في الذي أكابد

How long I have called out, yet found no buyer for it—

How I cry out but find no buyer

My soul, for a glance at what I endure.

My soul looks upon what I endure

لو ذقت ما ذاقوا أولوا العزائم

لو ذقت ما ذاقوا أولوا العزائم

من الهنا والفوز والغنائم

من الهنا والفوز والغنائم

Had you tasted what those of firm resolve have tasted,

If you tasted what people of determination tasted

Of bliss, victory, and spoils,

Of bliss, triumph and spoils

ما سارت الركبان وأنت نائم

ما سارت الركبان وأنت نائم

يا حسرتاه من قلة المساعد

يا حسرتاه من قلة المساعد

The riders would not have journeyed on while you slept.

While you sleep, the caravans march on

Alas for the scarcity of helpers!

Oh what regret from little aid

منعك عن ذوق الهوى هواكا

منعك عن ذوق الهوى هواكا

حتى غلب داؤك على دواكا

حتى غلب داؤك على دواكا

Your own desire has kept you from tasting love,

Your love distracted you

Until your illness prevailed over your remedy.

Until your sickness overcame your cure

ان لم تكن تبكي فكن تباكا

ان لم تكن تبكي فكن تباكا

لعلّ نفحه تصلح المفاسد

لعلّ نفحه تصلح المفاسد

If you are not weeping, then feign weeping,

If you do not weep, then sigh

Perhaps a breath of grace will put right what is corrupt.

Perhaps a breeze will heal the corruption

فسر إلى اللَه أعرج ومكسور

فسر إلى اللَه أعرج ومكسور

فجود ربك واسع ومنشور

فجود ربك واسع ومنشور

So journey to God, lame and broken,

Travel to God crooked and broken

For your Lord’s bounty is vast and widespread.

Your Lord's generosity is vast and widespread

والذنب ان تقلع لديه مغفور

والذنب ان تقلع لديه مغفور

شفيعنا أحمد جامع المحامد

And sin, if you abandon it, is forgiven in His sight.

Sins, if renounced, are forgiven
