1. سال دمعي شنان

    من بواعث وأشجان

    My tears flowed in torrents,

    From stirrings and sorrows.

  2. يا لطيف يا منان

    جد لنا بالأمان

    O Gentle One, O Bountiful Giver,

    Generously grant us safety.

  3. يا وسيع الاحسان

    هل فرج للولهان

    O You of boundless kindness,

    Is there relief for one distraught with longing?

  4. فعليك التكلان

    وأنت المستعان

    So upon You rests our trust,

    And You are the One whose aid is sought.

  5. كن ذنوب كم عصيان

    كم عيوب كم طغيان

    How many sins, how much disobedience!

    How many faults, how much transgression!

  6. وتقضي الأزمان

    والعمر منا فان

    And the ages pass away,

    And life is slipping away from us.

  7. أسألك يا حنان

    يا رحيم يا رحمان

    I beseech You, O Compassionate One,

    O Merciful One, O All-Merciful One,

  8. جد لنا بالغفران

    ثم اسكنا الجنان

    Generously grant us forgiveness,

    Then make us dwell in the gardens of Paradise.

  9. قم تدارك أعمال

    يا قبيح الأفعال

    Rise and set your deeds right,

    O you of ugly deeds!

  10. إن كذوب الآمال

    دوب تغدو محال

    Indeed, deceitful hopes

    Continually prove impossible.

  11. لا يغرك امهال

    والسعود والاقبال

    Let no respite deceive you,

    Nor good fortune and prosperity.

  12. ان سرعة الآجال

    أقرب فينا مجال

    Indeed, the swift coming of our appointed ends

    Is the nearest prospect before us.

  13. انتبه يا بطال

    من رقاد الجهال

    Awaken, O idler,

    From the slumber of the ignorant.

  14. فان عمرك قد طال

    والحال قد حال

    For your life has already grown long,

    And your condition has already changed.

  15. انتبه يا انسان

    ما لعينك انسان

    Awaken, O human being!

    Your eye has no pupil.

  16. إلى متى ذا النسيان

    والأمر قد حان

    How long will this forgetfulness last,

    While the matter is already at hand?
