حويدي أعدلي حديث الحبايب
وماand what حالcondition منهمamong them عنfrom العينsight غايبabsent
وما حال منهم عن العين غايب
Little camel-driver, tell me again of the loved ones.
O Hweidi, set right the talk of loved ones
And how fares the one among them who is absent from sight?
And the state of those who are absent from the eye
جميلbeautiful المحياthe face صقيلpolished الترائبthe upper chest
جميل المحيا صقيل الترائب
سوجيlanguid النواظرthe eyes جعيدcurly الذوائبthe locks of hair
سوجي النواظر جعيد الذوائب
Fair of face, with a gleaming chest,
Beautiful of smile, polished of garments
Languid-eyed, with curling locks.
Clear-eyed, with flowing locks
رعىmay preserve اللَهGod لياليnights حظيناwe were blessed بوصلهwith union with him
رعى اللَه ليالي حظينا بوصله
وطابand grew sweet اتصاليmy union بعلهwith his second draught ونهلهand his first draught
وطاب اتصالي بعله ونهله
May God preserve the nights when we enjoyed union with him.
May God protect the nights we were united with him
And sweet was my union with him, draught after draught.
And my attachment to his family was good
فياso O ذاpossessor of الجلالmajesty لفّjoin شمليmy company بشملهwith his company
فيا ذا الجلال لفّ شملي بشمله
فقلبيfor my heart منfrom البعدdistance والهجرand estrangement ذائبmelting
فقلبي من البعد والهجر ذائب
So, O Lord of Majesty, unite me with him.
So O Noble One join my group with his
For my heart is melting from distance and estrangement.
For my heart from distance and separation melts
أناI شاwill أتركleave behind الهمّsorrow وواصلand continue سروريmy joy
أنا شا أترك الهمّ وواصل سروري
وليand I have ربّa Lord يعلمknows بخافيof the secrets of أموريmy affairs
ولي ربّ يعلم بخافي أموري
I will leave sorrow behind and continue my joy.
I, what will I leave worries and continue my joy
And I have a Lord who knows the secrets of my affairs.
And I have a Lord who knows my hidden affairs
وشاand will أدخلenter وشاand will اجزمbe resolute بقلبwith a heart جسوريfearless
وشا أدخل وشا اجزم بقلب جسوري
أرىI regard اللومreproach عنديin my view خطاan error غيرnot صائبcorrect
أرى اللوم عندي خطا غير صائب
And I will enter and be resolute, with a fearless heart.
And what will I commit and brace with a bold heart
I regard reproach as mistaken, not right.
I see blame in me is a mistake, not right
أناشاI will استجرseek refuge بالجمالin the beauty المكملperfected
أناشا استجر بالجمال المكمل
ومنand he who فيamong النبيينthe prophets أكملmost perfect وأفضلand best
ومن في النبيين أكمل وأفضل
I will seek refuge in perfected beauty,
I seek help in perfect, complete beauty
And in him who is most perfect and best among the prophets—
And in the prophets, most perfect and superior
أبيAbu القاسمal-Qasim أحمدAhmad لناfor us خيرbest مرسلmessenger
أبي القاسم أحمد لنا خير مرسل
بهthrough him تنقضيare fulfilled ليfor me جميعall المطالبthe requests
به تنقضي لي جميع المطالب
Abu al-Qasim, Ahmad, the best messenger sent to us.
My father al-Qasim Ahmad, the best messenger for us
Through him, all my requests are fulfilled.
Through him, all my requests are fulfilled
ومنand whoever كانwas جدّهhis forefather محمدMuhammad تبجحtakes pride
ومن كان جدّه محمد تبجح
ففيfor in كلّevery وزنهweighing فوزنتهso his weight أرجحheavier
ففي كلّ وزنه فوزنته أرجح
And whoever has Muhammad as his forefather takes pride.
And whoever's grandfather is Muhammad boasts
For at every weighing, his weight is heavier.
So in every weight, his weight is heavier
ببركتهthrough his blessing ربيmy Lord يجاوزoverlooks faults ويسمحand forgives
ببركته ربي يجاوز ويسمح
إذاwhen أعيتproved unavailing عليناfor us جميعall المذاهبthe paths
إذا أعيت علينا جميع المذاهب
Through his blessing, my Lord overlooks faults and forgives,
By his blessing my Lord pardons and forgives
When all paths fail us.
When all principles fail us
