O my companion by night, if my companion by night tires of me.
O my helper, when my helper forsakes me.
ياO سروريmy joy إذاwhen عصانيdefies me سروريmy joy
يا سروري إذا عصاني سروري
ياO صلاحيmy salvation إذاwhen تلاشتfall apart أموريmy affairs
يا صلاحي إذا تلاشت أموري
O my joy, when my joy defies me.
O my salvation, when my affairs fall apart.
أنتYou جودكYour generosity عظيمimmense
أنت جودك عظيم
أنتYou أكرمmost generous كريمgenerous one
أنت أكرم كريم
You—Your generosity is immense.
You are the most generous of the generous.
أنتYou أرحمmost merciful رحيمmerciful one
أنت أرحم رحيم
أنتYou عالمknowing بماof what انطوىhas folded itself بهaround it ضميريmy heart
أنت عالم بما انطوى به ضميري
You are the most merciful of the merciful.
You know what lies enfolded in my heart.
اعفpardon عنيme واجعلand make جنانكYour gardens مصيريmy destination
اعف عني واجعل جنانك مصيري
أنتYou ربيmy Lord حقاtruly إلىto منwhom تكلنيwould You entrust me
أنت ربي حقا إلى من تكلني
Pardon me, and make Your gardens my destination.
You are truly my Lord; to whom would You entrust me?
وإنand if عصيتكI have disobeyed You ياO خالقيmy Creator فاعفthen pardon عنيme
وإن عصيتك يا خالقي فاعف عني
أنتYou قلتYou said ليto me إنif ضقتyou are distressed سلنيask Me
أنت قلت لي إن ضقت سلني
And if I have disobeyed You, O my Creator, then pardon me.
You told me, “If you are distressed, ask Me.”
ياO ميسرGiver of ease يسرease بفضلكby Your grace عسريmy hardship
يا ميسر يسر بفضلك عسري
بابكYour door الملتجاthe refuge
بابك الملتجا
O Giver of ease, ease my hardship by Your grace.
Your door is the refuge.
واليكand to You الرجاhope
واليك الرجا
النجاdeliverance! النجاdeliverance!
النجا النجا
And to You hope turns.
Deliverance! Deliverance!
جدgive generously لعبدكto Your servant بكلwith every فضلbounty وخيرand good thing
جد لعبدك بكل فضل وخير
ياO قديراًMighty One ماnot مثلهlike Him منany قديرmighty one
يا قديراً ما مثله من قدير
Be generous to Your servant with every bounty and good thing.
O Mighty One, whom no mighty one can equal.
منwho لأهلfor the people of الذنوبsins ياO ربLord غيركother than You
من لأهل الذنوب يا رب غيرك
أوor لسترto conceal العيوبfaults ستراa concealment كستركlike Your concealment
أو لستر العيوب سترا كسترك
Who is there for sinners, O Lord, but You?
Or to conceal faults with a concealment like Yours?
أوفىor in الكونcreation أمرa command نافذeffective كأمركlike Your command
أوفى الكون أمر نافذ كأمرك
ياO غنيRich One جدgive generously للعديمto the destitute one الفقيرthe poor
يا غني جد للعديم الفقير
Or is there in creation a command as effective as Yours?
O Rich One, give generously to the destitute pauper:
عفوpardon ماwhat قدalready مضىhas passed
عفو ما قد مضى
معtogether with جميلgracious القضاthe decree
مع جميل القضا
Pardon for what has passed,
Together with a gracious decree,
ياO سريعswift in الرضاbeing pleased
يا سريع الرضا
ياO كبيرGreat One جدgive generously للذميمto the blameworthy one الصغيرthe lowly one
يا كبير جد للذميم الصغير
O Swift to be pleased.
O Great One, give generously to the blameworthy, lowly one.
ياO خطيرExalted One جدgive generously للضعيفto the weak one الحقيرthe abject one
يا خطير جد للضعيف الحقير
O Exalted One, give generously to the weak, abject one.
