هلis there? ربّa lord تجدواyou find غيرother than ربكمyour Lord ربa lord
هل ربّ تجدوا غير ربكم رب
أوor عنهfrom Him ياO ضعفfeebleness العقولminds مهربescape
أو عنه يا ضعف العقول مهرب
Can you find a lord—any lord other than your Lord?
Is there a Lord you find other than your Lord, Lord
Or is there any escape from Him, O feeble minds?
Or escape from Him, O weak minds
وانand if هربflees عبدهHis servant فأينthen where يذهبdoes he go
وان هرب عبده فأين يذهب
مالهhe has nothing سوىexcept بابهHis door وإنand even if هوhe أذنبhas sinned
ماله سوى بابه وإن هو أذنب
And if His servant flees, where can he go?
And if His servant flees, where would he go?
He has nothing but His door, even if he has sinned.
He has nothing but His door, even if he sins
هلis there? بابa door تجدواyou find غيرother than بابهHis door بابa door
هل باب تجدوا غير بابه باب
أوor مثلهlike Him مغنىone who enriches كريمgenerous وهابever-giving
أو مثله مغنى كريم وهاب
Can you find a door—any door other than His door?
Is there a door you find other than His door, door
Or one like Him who enriches, generous and ever-giving?
Or a refuge like Him, generous and giving
هوHe المؤثرthe effective agent فيin جميعall الأسبابcauses
هو المؤثر في جميع الأسباب
فاقتربso draw near لهto Him فهوfor He إليكto you أقربnearer
فاقترب له فهو إليك أقرب
He is the one who gives effect to every cause.
He is the one affecting all causes
So draw near to Him, for He is nearer to you.
So draw near to Him for He is nearer to you
لوif كنتyou were تعلمto know وسعvastness فضلbounty ربكyour Lord
لو كنت تعلم وسع فضل ربك
صغرتwould become small فيin إفضالهHis generosity جميعall ذنبكyour sin
صغرت في إفضاله جميع ذنبك
If you knew the vastness of your Lord's bounty,
If you knew the vastness of your Lord's grace
All your sins would be small beside His generosity.
All your sins would shrink before His favors
أكدstrengthen بحسنthrough goodness of الظنّopinion فيهof Him حبكyour love
أكد بحسن الظنّ فيه حبك
فالمرءfor a person معwith قالsaid النبيthe Prophet منwhomever حبhe loves
فالمرء مع قال النبي من حب
Strengthen your love by thinking well of Him.
Affirm your love for Him with good opinion
For a person is with those they love, as the Prophet said.
For man, the Prophet said, is with whom he loves
كنbe ملتجىone seeking refuge بهin Him فهوfor He خيرthe best ملجاrefuge
كن ملتجى به فهو خير ملجا
فليسfor there is no عنهfrom Him مهربescape ومنجاand deliverance
فليس عنه مهرب ومنجا
Take refuge in Him, for He is the best refuge.
Make Him your refuge for He is the best refuge
For there is no escape or deliverance from Him.
There is no escape or shelter from Him
قلsay ياO سريعswift الغوثaid منكfrom You فرجاrelief
قل يا سريع الغوث منك فرجا
لمذنبfor a sinner يحظىmay be favored بكلّwith every مطلبthing sought
لمذنب يحظى بكلّ مطلب
Say: 'O swift to aid, let relief come from You
Say: O swift to help, in You I hope
For a sinner, that he may attain all he seeks.'
For the sinner to gain all he asks
