إذا أمر اللَه آت ليس يرتد

إذا أمر اللَه آت ليس يرتد

وما يطرق من الأكدار له حد

وما يطرق من الأكدار له حد

When God's decree comes, it cannot be turned back.

And whatever troubles come knocking have their limit.

ورزقك ليس يقدر يقطعه حد

ورزقك ليس يقدر يقطعه حد

فما ذا الهمّ يا مغرور والكد

فما ذا الهمّ يا مغرور والكد

And no one can cut off your sustenance.

Why, then, this worry, O deluded one, and this toil?

فما تصنع إذا لم تصطبر ما

فما تصنع إذا لم تصطبر ما

لأمر قد قضاه اللَه حتما

لأمر قد قضاه اللَه حتما

What, then, will you do if you show no patience

With a decree God has ordained irrevocably?

وتعلم ذاك تجربة وعلما

وتعلم ذاك تجربة وعلما

فلا يستطع مجتهد وان أجهد

فلا يستطع مجتهد وان أجهد

And you know this through experience and knowledge:

No striver can alter it, however hard he strives.

فسلم للإله إن شئت تسلم

فسلم للإله إن شئت تسلم

وتحظى بالمنى منه وتغنم

وتحظى بالمنى منه وتغنم

So submit to God if you wish to be safe,

And attain what you wish for from Him, and prosper.

قضى الرحمن حتم منه مبرم

قضى الرحمن حتم منه مبرم

وأنت العبد انأشقى أو أسعد

وأنت العبد انأشقى أو أسعد

The All-Merciful has decreed; His decree is binding and irrevocable,

And you are His servant, whether He makes you wretched or happy.

قلوب بالقضا رضيت فراحت

قلوب بالقضا رضيت فراحت

هموم الدهر عنها فاستراحت

هموم الدهر عنها فاستراحت

Hearts were content with the decree, and away went

The cares of time from them, so they found rest.

فهى في جنة اللَه حيث راحت

فهى في جنة اللَه حيث راحت

في الدنيا وفي الأخرى سرمد

في الدنيا وفي الأخرى سرمد

So they are in God's paradise wherever they go,

In this world and in the next, forever.

قلوب كالرواسي لا تزلزل

قلوب كالرواسي لا تزلزل

ولا خطب يزعزعها وان جل

ولا خطب يزعزعها وان جل

Hearts like firmly anchored mountains, unshaken,

And no calamity unsettles them, however great it may be.

تشاهد عظمة الرحمن أكمل

تشاهد عظمة الرحمن أكمل

وليس لها لغير اللَه مقصد

وليس لها لغير اللَه مقصد

They behold the All-Merciful's majesty most fully,

And they have no goal other than God.

بحقهم إلهي قوّ ضعفي

بحقهم إلهي قوّ ضعفي

واجعل وصفهم سببا لوصفي

واجعل وصفهم سببا لوصفي

For their sake, my God, lend strength to my weakness,

And make their qualities a source of my own;

فها أنت الجدير بكل لطف

فها أنت الجدير بكل لطف

فهل عليا سوى علياك تصمد

فهل عليا سوى علياك تصمد

For You are indeed the One fit to bestow every kindness.

Is there any eminence but Yours to which one may turn?

بحسن رجائي والايمان ربي

بحسن رجائي والايمان ربي

يسامحني على جرمي وذنبي

يسامحني على جرمي وذنبي

Through my good hope and faith, my Lord

Forgives me for my wrongdoing and my sin.

فأنت المستعان لكل خطب

فأنت المستعان لكل خطب

بحقّ نبينا الهادي محمد

بحقّ نبينا الهادي محمد

For You are the One whose help is sought in every calamity.

For the sake of our Prophet, the guide, Muhammad,

فصلّ عليه ربي كل ساعه

فصلّ عليه ربي كل ساعه

ولا تردد له أبدا شفاعه

ولا تردد له أبدا شفاعه

So bless him, my Lord, at every hour,

And never reject his intercession,

واجعله لأمّته نفاعه

واجعله لأمّته نفاعه

فها أنت الذي تشكر وتحمد

فها أنت الذي تشكر وتحمد

And make him a great source of benefit to his community;

For You are indeed the One thanked and praised.
