O gazelle of Nu'man, O you of the languid, kohl-dark gaze.
O beautiful gazelle with kohl-lined eyes,
O slender-fingered one, O you of the radiant, lovely little cheek.
O bearer of two braids with beautiful rosy cheeks,

أقسم بالأيمان في جمالك مثيل
I have a heart distraught with love for you, and a weary gaze.
My heart is infatuated with love for you, and my eyelids are weary,
I swear by oaths—is there an equal to your beauty?
I swear by my faith, your beauty has no equal,

وأصل دائي الذي بي من طبيبي
And how can I hope for healing, O my beloved,
How can I hope to be cured, my beloved,
When the source of the sickness within me is my physician?
When the cause of my sickness comes from my healer?

لعلّ الأزمان تسعف بعد بعد طويل
My absence from them has grown long—call out to me.
I've been absent from them for so long, wandering lost,
May time grant relief after a long separation,
Perhaps time after a long absence will help

Through those dwelling among the ban trees, and may I heal every thirsting heart.
Me settle down and heal every weary heart.
My patience is exhausted, yet my hope is great.
My patience is worn out but my hope is great

My Lord, the Merciful, the Almighty, will free me from captivity.
That my Lord the Merciful, the Almighty will free me from captivity
How great is this plight of mine? It is a thing easy for God.
What’s happened to me is an easy matter for God

He gladdens the eyes after weeping and wailing.
Eyes that weep and wail will be joyful again
And as for me, my wish is union with my beloved.
My only request of my friend

وأحط رحلي وحملي والثقول
And to quench my burning thirst, and thereby humble my reproacher.
Is to heal my sickness and silence my critics
And to lay down my saddle, my load, and the heavy burdens
To settle me down, lift my burdens and sorrows
