هبت نسيمات الهنا والقبول

وفضل ذي الوجود شامل

Breezes of bliss and acceptance blew,

And the bounty of the Lord of Being embraces all.

وآذنت ذات البها بالوصول

وطالع السعد كامل

And the radiant one announced her arrival,

And the rising star of good fortune was full.

لعبت بها نشوان صهبا شمول

فبدت لنا حسن الشمائل

I reveled with her, drunk on ruddy wine,

So she appeared to us, lovely in her graces.

وجلت جمالاً حار فيه العقول

فكل ما بسل منه ذاهل

And she revealed a beauty that bewildered minds,

So all who were valiant stood bewildered by it.

فعطرت بالنشر كل الطلول

نشر فخر نشر الخمائل

She perfumed every ruined campsite with her scent,

A scent surpassing the fragrance of the groves.

جرت على تلك الحقوف الذيول

فحيى بها ما كان ذابل

She trailed her hems over those curved dunes,

So through her, what had withered came to life.

فان جات وادي جاد فيه السيول

وقبلها قد كان ما حل

Whenever she came to a valley, torrents poured through it,

And before her it had lain desolate.

في حلة من عبقري تجول

مزركشه بابريز حاصل

She moves in a robe of sumptuous brocade,

Embroidered with pure, genuine gold.

ترسل من ألحاظ الأماني نصول

مسممة ترمي المقاتل

She sends arrowheads from the glances of longing,

Poisoned, they strike the vital spots.

وصار منها كل صعب ذلول

طالت على كلّ طائل

And through her, every unyielding one became submissive;

She rose above all who were eminent.

ووصف ذات الخال شرحه يطول

وفيه يعيى كل قائل

And the description of the one with the beauty spot takes long to unfold,

And every speaker falters in the telling.

يا سعد أخبرني بمن هم غفول

عني وعنهم لست غافل

O Saʿd, tell me of those who are heedless

Of me, though I am not heedless of them.

من فقدهم شنان دمعي همول

مغدودق هتان وابل

At their loss, my tears' worn waterskins pour forth,

Copious, steadily falling, a heavy downpour.

أرعى الزواهر قد براني النحول

من طالع منها وآفل

I watch the shining stars; wasting has worn me away,

Those rising among them and those setting.

هل عادهم عرب الأجيرع نزول

رعيا لهاتيك المنازل

Are the Arabs of al-Ujayriʿ still encamped?

May those dwellings be kept safe!

ورب أهيف بين تلك الحجول

زين الحلى والخلاخل

And many a slender-waisted beauty within those bridal chambers,

An adornment to jewels and anklets,

يسحر بلحظ العين عقل الفحول

سحر قهر سحر آل بابل

Bewitches the minds of mighty men with a glance of the eye:

An enchantment that overpowered the sorcery of Babylon's people.

واختم صلاة دائماً لا يزول

على أحمد حاوي الفضائل

And close with a blessing, everlasting and unceasing,

Upon Ahmad, possessor of the virtues,

الهاشمي المصطفى الرسول

كهف اليتامى والأرامل

The Hashemite, the Chosen One, the Messenger,

The refuge of orphans and widows.
